Post from Abbeyview Surgery

There is significant spread of this virus by people with minimal or no symptoms. There are also studies showing that droplets can spread further than the allocated six foot distance for social distancing.

Looking to other countries around the world, over 80 per cent of them have undertaken policies of wearing masks or face coverings in public places and enclosed spaces.

At Abbeyview surgery we have decided to adopt the policy of Masks4all for those patients who are asked to attend for a face to face appointment with a Doctor or Nurse in the surgery.

The mask protects everyone around the wearer, should he or she prove to unknowingly be a source of infection. Therefore the individual is only protected if everyone around them is wearing a mask or face covering.
Our surgery has been making our own cloth masks which we can provide to patients who do not have their own face covering.

We have a local appeal with the community to also help with production of masks for patient use.

We would like all patients to use your own face coverings for nose and mouth. For those patients who have not yet obtained a protection we will lend one for use in the surgery.

We would ask that any fabric face covering you use is removed and placed in a closed box or bag after use and then washed at 60 degrees to ensure full cleansing .

Thank you
